A wonderful post from Lisa Selow at http://www.punkrockpsychic.com
Some people say, “Oh, I’m not intuitive.” Or, they’ll insist, “Psychic ability is for weirdos and quacks.” The thing is that intuition is a very normal, natural, human type of thing. I believe that the divine has blessed everyone with intuitive gifts. Intuition is really a choice. You can choose to live intuitively or not.
If you don’t think that you are intuitive, consider that you simply might be choosing not to live that way. Or, you might not be listening (intuitive insights come when you’re relaxed and open such as through meditation, dream time, or just hanging out).
Sometimes, intuitive insights come and you might discount them or ignore the guidance, not taking the actions the divine is suggesting. This doesn’t mean you’re not intuitive, it just means that you haven’t taken it to the next step, which is the action part!
Also, consider the idea that energy follows intention. When you focus on something and intend it to happen, the universal energies align to support your goals and desires. If you intend to live your life intuitively, you’re more likely to have this happen.
Here are some tips on how to use the power of intention in your daily life to embrace your intuition more and more:
1. Start your day on a good note. Intend when you wake up that you’re going to not only have a wonderful day, but you are going to notice the signs and guidance from the divine. Instead of watching the morning news, perhaps, you might take a few minutes to be still. You don’t have to do any fancy or formal meditation, just practice sitting in the stillness, observing your thoughts. See what comes to you.
2. Notice everything around you. During your work day, whether you work for yourself or someone else, observe your environment. The divine communicates usually in symbols. Notice the colors, animals, birds, the words you hear, the songs on your radio, the weather, and everything else. Also, take note of your thoughts, feelings, and emotions from time to time since these are the basis of intuition. You might even keep a journal to record any observations that feel like the divine is speaking to you.
3. Honor your first impressions. When you meet someone for the first time, you often get information about whether he or she is trustworthy. Trust that and don’t write it off. It’s your intuition. Also, if you get a great idea that comes out the blue and feels so perfect as a solution or wonderful as a goal, trust it. You might use your left-brain logic a bit to sort out the details, but often, the divine will work with us with spontaneous messages like this. If the idea feels good, chances are, it’s something you can trust. Intuition requires trusting yourself, not only the divine. It can take practice, but the time and effort are so worth it.
4. Your dreams and goals are signposts. The divine would never give you a dream or goal that you can’t achieve. If you really feel drawn to doing or accomplishing something, it’s because the divine desires it for you too. Usually, following your dreams will lead to solutions in other life areas. Take things one step at a time. Even if your dream doesn’t feel practical or related to your career, it’s still your life purpose speaking to you. If the guidance becomes louder and more obvious over time, it is time to take action on your dreams. Dreams don’t go away. They are there for a reason. It’s a reason that only you can know and experience. Trust in the mystery to see where it leads you.
5. Ask the divine for help. Whenever you feel stuck in life, ask the divine to bring you obvious signs and messages. Ask that it is gentle and loving. Ask to be shown the best solutions for you and the situation. Nothing is too big or small for the divine. If others are involved, as in a work or business project, ask the divine to help lift the situation to the highest and best for all involved. This way, everyone’s free will is honored. The answers always come. They might be subtle. They might be obvious. With time and practice, you will learn to decipher how your own intuition works for you. All you need is patience and willingness.
6. Check in with yourself. As you go about your day, check in with yourself to see what would feel the best for you in any given moment. The divine always reminds us that we only have the present moment. The guidance that you might get often is present-oriented, meaning it’s about what you can do right now to shift things or get moving forward. The messages from the divine always are loving, empowering, and make you feel better. If you receive a message that feels scary, it might be your ego telling you that you can’t do something, but if it’s the divine, you will still feel empowered. If you work with the highest form of light and love when working with the divine helpers, you won’t attract lower energies which like to feed off the ego. You won’t even notice them in the spirit world or in your human life even.
7. Have fun. Have you ever noticed how intuitive children are sometimes? I really think it’s because they play and have fun. When your heart is open, you can hear the divine more easily. You might protest as you read this, thinking that you don’t have time for fun. Even carving out five or ten minutes to enjoy yourself will make a world of difference in how you feel. When you feel good, it’s easier to notice the subtleties of the universe. If something feels enjoyable and life seems to be flowing, that is a sign that you’re on the right path, whether it’s in your personal or professional life.
Enjoy the process of embracing your intuition. Let yourself have fun with it. It’s not meant to be hard. It’s meant to be enjoyable and easy. Use your intention to create the results you desire with intuitive development. It’s a process, so be gentle with yourself. Again, the most important thing is to enjoy it all!

Loved the outline, Lisa! I wonder if some of us are meant to use our intuition more than others but of course we all have the ability. It just matters how much you want to delve into the world of intuition.
I think another element of using it is trust. In yourself and the unknown!
Great post! Sherrie
Sherrie, thanks so much for reading and commenting, along with the kind words. I wonder that too at times, if some of us are meant to use it more. I’m hoping that it becomes more commonplace to use intuition in our world. It would be a fun place to live
It’s so true about trust. I smile at times since although I’m psychic, there are still things, of course that I don’t know, especially about my own life. I’ve worked on being alright with it, although it’s not always easy
Thanks and blessings.
Love this post, Lisa…it’s so clear and precise to help those of us who are just choosing to follow our intuition. I do like the distinction that you make about *choosing* to live congruent with one’s intuition.
Steve, thanks so much for commenting and for the kind words. Yes, intention is so important. I enjoy how you describe that in your writing as well.
I have always acknowledged certain rare moments when I can perceive the universe’s harmony. Those are the times when I feel the most inspired, most energized and everything seems just right. I don’t know if that is intuitive living (at least during those short periods), but I feel they resonate quite well with the second point of your list: “Notice everything around you”.
Gustavo, thanks so much for commenting. I smile when clients ask me how to notice stuff around them. I compare it to being in that childlike state of wonder. Sometimes, I think some forget what it was like to be inquisitive, open, or just observing their environment. But, the good news is that it’s not hard to get it back as an adult–with some practice.
